Cancer Survivor, Dog Sled Champion
to Speak at Holden Cancer Center


Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at The University of Iowa will host a free community seminar featuring DeeDee Jonrowe, cancer survivor and champion dog sled racer, on Thursday, September 21, at 1 p.m. in the 8th Level Solarium, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Jonrowe overcame breast cancer to become the foremost female musher competing in the world today. She has posted the fastest time of any woman in the history of the famed Iditarod dog sled race in Alaska. She has recorded 14 top-10 finishes in her impressive career.

She served as an honorary chair of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Jonrowe also received the YWCA's Alaska Woman of Achievement Award and the Most Inspirational Musher Award. She's also served as spokesperson for the National Girl Scouts Council and Winter Special Olympics.
