UI Family Care Center-North Liberty
Grows With Community

UI Family Care Center-North Liberty officials announced the expansion of the clinic at 3 Lions Drive in North Liberty that is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2007.

"We are honored to be a part of the community for nearly 10 years, and we remain committed to being part of it for years to come. That's why we are growing with the community to help meet the health care needs of the people in the Technology Corridor," said Terry Protextor, executive director of UI Community Medical Services.

"We see an increasing demand for health care services throughout Johnson County and the surrounding area," said Donna Katen-Bahensky, director and CEO of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. "It's clear that we need to devote more resources to continue our tradition of providing high quality patient care to all those we serve."

The building expansion will add approximately 4,400 square feet to the existing clinic. When completed, the expanded clinic will feature a separate clinical area for UI HealthWorks occupational medicine patients, complete with a dedicated separate entrance and reception area.

"UI Family Care Center-North Liberty is focused on providing personal, patient-centered health care for all ages and types of problems," said Paul James, MD, professor and head of the UI Department of Family Medicine. "The links between our outstanding physicians in North Liberty and their colleagues at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics offer easy access for our patients to specialized care from some of the nation's best physicians."

Plans also call for adding family medicine physicians to the health care staff at UI Family Care Center-North Liberty. There also will be new exam rooms, which will allow more office visits, and space for additional specialty clinics, including cardiology, pediatric, and obstetrical/gynecological services.

Britt Marcussen, MD, UI clinical assistant professor of family medicine and medical director of UI Family Care Center-North Liberty, said, "We are excited about these plans, and we certainly look forward to growing with this dynamic community and helping care for our patients with the full spectrum of health care services at our disposal."
