Ten nurses from The University of Iowa—nine from UI Hospitals and Clinics and one from UI Student Health Service—were named to the third annual list of "100 Great Iowa Nurses."
The Iowa Nurses Association, Iowa Nurses Foundation, and the University of Iowa College of Nursing have partnered since 2005 to create this list to celebrate nursing by honoring 100 nurses from around the state each year.
These outstanding UI nurses are recognized for their courage, competence, and commitment to patients and the nursing profession:
UI Hospitals and Clinics

Nominations are submitted by colleagues, patients, doctors, friends and family members. This year's honorees represent 43 Iowa counties. The original pool of 338 nominees came from 61 of Iowa's 99 counties. The nominations were reviewed by a panel of past recipients and then narrowed to 100 by a committee of nursing professionals. Nurses selected for this honor represent many sectors of health care, including hospitals, long-term care facilities and school and office nurses.
The nurses, with their invited guests, will attend a ceremony in their honor Sunday, May 6, in Des Moines, the first day of National Nurses Week.
