Ann Broderick, MD, has accepted the position of medical director of the Palliative Care Program at UI Hospitals and Clinics.
The Palliative Care Program provides care for patients and families who face life-threatening illnesses. The service offers pain and symptom management, support in dealing with emotional stress and social issues, and spiritual support. The team works with the patient's primary medical doctor.
Broderick is a clinical associate professor in the UI Department of Internal Medicine and is board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine. She also served for nine years as medical director of Iowa City Hospice, which serves patients and their families affected by chronic diseases in a five-county area in eastern Iowa. She is an alumna of the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. She completed residency training and a fellowship at UI Hospitals and Clinics. She will continue to serve as a faculty member in the UI Department of Internal Medicine.
