Elegant New Lobby Welcomes

As patients and visitors enter the new UI Hospitals and Clinics Patient and Visitor Services Center, they see a Susan Chrysler White glass sculpture representing a colorful collection of butterflies—the symbol of hope. Immediately to the left, the welcoming staff at the new main information desk is ready to answer your questions, with additional support from the concierge service which offers everything from dining suggestions to notary public services. Farther down the lobby, soothing music emanates from a baby grand player piano. The dream has become reality. More than 30 years ago, UI Hospitals and Clinics leaders dreamed of opening a new main lobby, improving access and amenities for patients and visitors. The new main lobby opened Tuesday, July 31. Outside the new main entrance, patients can opt for valet parking at a new location just south of the new front entry. Inside, Wild Rose Gifts is the new enhanced gift shop operated by Volunteer Services, offering gifts and cards as well as new merchandise. Wild Rose Books, a partnership of Volunteer Services and University Book Store, carries a wide array of reading materials, from magazines and newspapers to best sellers and popular paperbacks. Nearby is another Java House, with its selections of hot and cold beverages and a new seating area. Additional services provided by Concierge Services include advice on lodging, entertainment, and transportation options, along with assistance with valet parking, patient escorting, computer and internet access, notary, photocopying and fax services.
