Experts from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will present a free community seminar on back pain from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, located at 1220 First Ave. in Coralville.
UI neurosurgeon Patrick Hitchon, MD, and UI orthopaedics and rehabilitation specialists Joseph Chen, MD, and Ernest Found, MD, will discuss the latest advances in back care.
Four out of five adults experience back pain at least once during their lifetimes. Ranging from mild discomfort to severe injury, back pain can prevent people from performing many daily activities.
Hear UI experts discuss the latest advances in back care that can help you get back to leading an active life.
This in-depth presentation will include discussion of:
- Non-surgical treatments for back pain
- Surgical options, such as disc surgery, including pros and cons
- Osteoporotic spinal fractures, their medical and percutaneous treatment, and indications for vertebroplasty, a minimally-invasive treatment to strengthen a broken bone in the spine that has been weakened by osteoporosis or, less commonly, cancer.
Advance registration for this free community seminar is encouraged. To register, call UI Health Access at 319-384-8442 or 800-777-8442.
This seminar is part of the "Health For Your Lifetime" series presented as a public service by UI Hospitals and Clinics.
