UI Health Care News: Week of March 24, 2008

The Path to Progress: Clinical Trials in Blood Cancers 


Brian K. Link, MD, cancer specialist with Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center will speak Thursday, March 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Quality Inn and Suites Highlander Conference Center, 2525 North Dodge Street, Iowa City, on the role clinical trials play in the progress against blood cancers.

He will discuss:

  • How new drugs are discovered, researched, and approved for treatment
  • Distinguishing fact from fiction when it comes to clinical trials
  • How to talk to your doctor about clinical trials as a possible treatment option
  • Recent and ongoing advances in the treatment of blood cancers
  • How to locate clinical trials that may be right for you
