Cynthia Kenyon to Speak on Aging:
"Genes, and Cells That Control the Rate of Aging"

Cynthia Kenyon, PhD, a molecular biologist at the University of California, San Francisco, will present the Parkin Lecture on Aging: "Genes and Cells That Control the Rate of Aging," Thursday, April 3, at 4:30 p.m. in room 1110A, UI Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF).

A pre-lecture reception will begin at 4 p.m. in the MERF atrium. For more information, contact Julie Bobitt at the UI Center on Aging 319-384-4222 or julie-bobitt@uiowa.edu

Kenyon is recognized for her discovery that a single-gene mutation could double the lifespan of tiny worms called C. elegans, which has propelled research on the molecular biology of aging.

She has been featured on National Public Radio, PBS's "NOVA scienceNow" and "Charlie Rose" and BBC Radio.
