UI Hospitals and Clinics welcomed Kenneth P. Kates, MBA, as its new Chief Executive Officer. Kates assumed his new responsibilities Sept. 15. He will provide leadership in budgeting, administration, and planning for all aspects of UI Hospitals and Clinics.
Kates graduated from Philadelphia University with a bachelor of science degree in business administration/marketing and an MBA in health administration from Temple University Graduate School of Business.
Before joining UI Hospitals and Clinics, Kates was a consultant with Alvarez and Marsal, Chicago. He has more than 30 years of experience in academic health care, including the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health System, where he served as vice president and director of the University of Chicago Children’s Hospital and most recently as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He also held positions at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
