The Iowa Women's Basketball team, as part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association breast cancer initiative, invites you to Pink Zone 2009 Sunday, February 1, to raise breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond. The Women Hawkeyes will meet Penn State at 1 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Fan are encouraged to wear pink to the game to show their support of breast cancer awareness. The first 1,000 fans will receive a pink pom-pom.
All youth who wear their team uniform will receive free admission. There will be a pre-game Kids Fun Zone and post-game autographs.
The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone™, formerly known as "Think Pink," in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, more than 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching more than 830,000 fans and raising more than $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research. |
