Specialists from the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery will offer free screenings for head and neck cancer on Tuesday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to noon at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as part of the Yul Brynner Foundation Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week.

Risk factors for head and neck cancer include:
- Smoking
- Chewing tobacco
- Consuming alcohol
- Prior cancer of the region of the head and neck
Symptoms include:
- Sores in the mouth that don't go away
- Sores in throat or trouble swallowing
- Change in voice
- Growth or swelling in the neck
