University of Iowa Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz and former Hawkeye football player and current kicker for the San Diego Chargers Nate Kaeding will host an event 7 p.m., Thursday, June 25, at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City, featuring keynote speaker Joe Ehrmann. All of the proceeds will benefit University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
"This is not only an opportunity to hear an extremely important message about the future of our young people, but to also support one of the nation's most highly ranked children's hospitals," Ferentz said. "Joe Ehrmann and University of Iowa Children's Hospital are both committed to the well-being of children and this event will have a lasting effect that will extend far beyond our community."
Ehrmann, a former college All-American and NFL star turned youth minister, high school football coach and motivational speaker, is considered one of the most influential sports educators in the country. He will present his life story and discuss his program, "Building Men and Women for Others." Transamerica will sponsor the event.
Ehrmann, who is the subject of the New York Times bestseller, "Season of Life," and was recognized by Parade magazine as "The Most Important Coach in America," was hired by the NFL in August 2008 to share his philosophy with several NFL teams, including the Chargers.
"I've had the privilege of attending Mr. Ehrmann's presentation and he was captivating," said Kaeding. "His message has had a profound impact on my approach to athletics."
Organizers say everyone is welcome to attend this special event, but coaches, educators and parents will especially benefit from hearing Ehrmann's message.
Tickets for the event are available at the Englert box office or online and cost $12 in advance or $20 at the door. |
