It's for the Kids



First Annual Aiming for a Cure Foundation MacBride Open

The Bear Creek Bass club will sponsor the first annual Aiming for a Cure MacBride Open Saturday, September 26. The deadline for entries is Friday, September 11. All proceeds after payout will be donated to Aiming for a Cure Foundation to benefit pediatric cancer patients at University of Iowa Children's Hospital

The details

  • Meet at the Lake MacBride Main Ramp. All boats are welcome as long as they have a working live well and meet Iowa regulations
  • The competition will be limited to 94 boats
  • The cost is $50 per two-person team
  • Big Bass $10 per boat (optional) 100 percent payback
  • Artificial baits only

Times

  • Boat inspection and check in—4:30 to 6 a.m.
  • Pre-tournament meeting—6:05 a.m.
  • Blastoff—6:30 a.m.
  • Weigh in—2:30 [.m.
  • Awards and prizes—2:45 p.m.

Scoring

A legal bass must be 15 inches to keep. The team with the heaviest five-bass limit will win. In case of a tie, the team with the biggest bass will win. If there is still a tie, the award will go to the team with the earliest entry.

Penalties

There will be a one pound penalty for each dad fish a team weighs in. There will be a one pound penalty for each minute a team is late for weigh in. After 10 minutes, the team will be disqualified.

Registration

Make check payable to Bear Creek Bass Club. Include the name of the boater, phone number, and the name of the non-boater. Send to Don Waters, Treasurer, 116 Autum Street, Shellsburg, Iowa, 52332.

Radiothons

Children's Miracle Network radiothons benefit the children and families cared for at University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Through interviews and stories, our partnering radio stations introduce pediatric patients and families who receive specialized care.

Y105 Radiothon

September 10 and 11, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day

The Y105 radiothon will begin Thursday, September 10, and continue through Friday, September 11, live from the Y105 Studio in Dubuque.

KHAK Radiothon

September 17 and 18, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day

The KHAK radiothon will begin Thursday, September 17 and continue through Friday, September 18, live from the John Colloton Pavilion Atrium Lobby, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
