Patients, their families, visitors, and staff all benefit from the work of the almost 1,300 volunteers who donate more than 98,000 hours of their time each year at UI Hospitals and Clinics.
In addition to lending a hand in countless ways every day, volunteers carry out numerous house-wide projects including:
- Making sock monkey dolls for pediatric inpatients
- Knitting hats for every baby born at UI Hospitals and Clinics
- Hand-delivering personalized e-mail messages to patients
Volunteer Services businesses and partnerships contributed more than $151,000 to hospital programs and services last year. All week, customers at the Volunteer Services businesses will receive "We [heart] Our Volunteers" stickers.
"Your smiles and your helping hands are meaningful to patients, their families, and UI Health Care staff and health care providers alike," said UI Hospitals and Clinics CEO Kenneth Kates in a letter thanking volunteers for their service.
