The UI Sports Medicine experts who take care of the Hawkeyes will discuss the pros and cons of specializing in sports and exercise Monday, May 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at a free Health for Your Lifetime program at UI Sports Medicine, 2701 Prairie Meadows Drive, Iowa City.
This session will help you understand how to strike a balance between becoming the best you can be at your sport and being healthy for a lifetime. Topics will include:
- How to balance sport specialization and cross training
- What are the physical and psychological development issues to be aware of with kids and sports?
- What are the gender differences in training?
- How to setup activities to improve athletically and prevent injuries
