High blood pressure in children will be the focus of a special community program to be presented by University of Iowa Children's Hospital from 6:15 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Iowa Children's Museum at the Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville.
Experts from UI Children's Hospital will provide information for parents and a free blood pressure screening for every child who attends. Participating kids may explore the museum without charge during this special event.
High blood pressure in children is on the rise. Untreated high blood pressure can damage the heart, brain, kidneys and eyes. If the problem is caught early, monitored and treated, a child with high blood pressure can lead an active, normal life.
Register online or call 319-335-8886 or toll-free at 877-MED-IOWA.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you require an accommodation in order to participate in this program, contact Tom Walljasper in advance at 319-384-1745 or tom-walljasper@uiowa.edu. |
