Blizzards in August? Ice cream lovers can help raise funds for children in need during the fifth annual "DQ Miracle Treat Day" on Thursday, Aug. 5.

During the special day, participating Dairy Queen locations will donate proceeds from the sale of every Blizzard to University of Iowa Children's Hospital through Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals.

People who want to participate, but are unable to visit a Dairy Queen on Aug. 5, may contact Children's Miracle Network to purchase a $5 medium Blizzard coupon redeemable at participating locations through Sept. 5.

Last year on Miracle Treat Day, participating Dairy Queens throughout the United States and Canada raised more than $4 million.
