Ten-year-old Kid Captain Becomes Hometown Celebrity

Nathaniel Fisher's day in the spotlight as a UI Children's Hospital Kid Captain is reserved for Saturday, Sept. 11, when the Hawkeyes take the field at Kinnick Stadium against their cross-state rivals, the Iowa State Cyclones.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel has already earned celebrity status in his hometown of Dickens, Iowa, when a film crew from the University arrived in late July to interview Nathaniel and his parents, Kristi and Brian Fisher.

The family's neighbors read all about it in a Spencer Daily Reporter story written by staff reporter Gabe Licht.

The Kid Captain program is a partnership between UI Children’s Hospital and the Iowa Hawkeyes to honor UI Children’s Hospital patients and celebrate their inspirational stories.
