The Pediatric Dialysis Center at UI Children’s Hospital, located on the third flood of General Hospital between Elevators A and B, will be open for patients beginning September 2010.
The new center—the only dedicated pediatric dialysis unit in Iowa—can accommodate up to four patients at a time.
Construction of the new area was made possible with the support of Walmart and Sam’s Club, whose associates raised and donated $400,000 for the project through Children’s Miracle Network.

When your kidneys fail, you need treatment to replace the work your kidneys used to do. Dialysis treatment filters your blood to rid your body of harmful wastes, extra salt and water.
