"This continued recognition underscores how fortunate
Iowans are to have such a comprehensive array of medical
specialties available to them as a statewide medical
resource," said R. Edward Howell, director and CEO of UI
Hospitals and Clinics. "These rankings provide well-deserved
recognition to all the physicians, nurses, support staff,
and volunteers affiliated with University of Iowa Health
Care."
Howell noted that several of the UI's ranked
specialties--including cancer, geriatrics, and
orthopaedics--reflect the demographics and health needs of
the state's residents, a confirmation that UI Hospitals and
Clinics is serving its mission well.
"What's especially impressive is the quality, breadth,
and consistency of our rankings," he added. "All Iowans can
be very proud to have such a superb health care resource
readily available to them."
It was the eleventh time in 11 years that UI Hospitals
