Alliance assures UI Hospitals and Clinics will offer
patients the very latest technologies for years to come
Whether it's a heart problem or battle with cancer,
today's patients rightfully expect to receive care via the
latest and most advanced technologies.
A new 15-year strategic alliance with one of the world's
largest suppliers in the health care industry assures that
physicians and staff with University of Iowa Health Care
will offer the very latest in diagnostic imaging and
oncology treatment technologies.
The alliance with Siemens Medical Solutions also includes
all-encompassing cooperative research and development
activities.
Future opportunities may expand the agreement to include
health care information technology solutions, building
technologies, and information network and communication
services.
Donna Katen-Bahensky, director and CEO of UI Hospitals
and Clinics, said, "Our mission is to provide the best
possible patient care in Iowa, and this alliance with
Siemens will ensure this happens.
"With our expertise and dedication to quality care and
world-class medical research, combined with Siemens'
'thought leadership' in innovative health care technologies,
we can change medicine and change lives for the better."
As part of the alliance, experts with UI Health
Care--which includes UI Hospitals and Clinics and the UI Roy
J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, together with
the UI College of Engineering--will have access to the
latest medical imaging technologies from Siemens, including
magnetic resonance (MR), computed tomography (CT), and
positron emission tomography (P.E.T.) systems. It also
includes advanced oncology treatment systems.
Furthermore, with support for radiological research
efforts and financial services products from Siemens, the
alliance will enable UI Health Care to maintain its national
leadership role in medical research and continue to provide
premier health care to patients.
