Mark E. Anderson, M.D., Ph.D., was appointed to the Potter-Lambert Chair in Cardiology.

David Bedell, M.D., received the Michael Doheny Humanitarian Award for his volunteer work in El Salvador.

Daniel Bonthius, M.D., Ph.D., was elected president of the National Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Group.

John Buatti, M.D., Laurie Fajardo, M.D., and Mark Madsen, M.D., were voted “best of the best” by their peers in a survey conducted by Medical Imaging magazine.

Keith Carter, M.D., a specialist in oculoplastic surgery, was promoted head of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, effective Jan. 1, 2006.

Michael B. Cohen, M.D., was named the Dr. Richard G. Lynch Chair in Experimental Pathology.

William Coryell, M.D., was named the George Winokur Professor of Psychiatry.

Renee Gould, R.N., received a 2005 International Sharps Injury Prevention Award from Managing Infection Control and the International Sharps Injury Prevention Society.

Clinton L. Harris, M.D., received the 2005 Pfizer Scholars in Pain Management Grant.

Herman Hein, M.D., received the UI President’s Award for State Outreach and Public Engagement.

James Howe, M.D., was appointed co-leader of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center's Cancer Genetics and Computational Biology Program, with Thomas Casavant, Ph.D.

Craig Porter, M.D., has been appointed to a three-year term as University of Iowa ombudsperson.

Stuart L. Weinstein, M.D., received the Alfred R. Shands Award from Orthopedic Research Society and the American Orthopedic Association. George

Weiner, M.D., received the “Champion of Advocacy” award from the American Society of Hematology.
