PACEMAKER: Fall 2007 Worth NotingJean Robillard, MD, appointed a senior leadership team for the newly reorganized University of Iowa Health Care enterprise. Appointees include Donna Katen-Bahensky, senior associate vice president and CEO, UI Hospitals and Clinics; Peter Densen, MD, executive dean, UI Carver College of Medicine; Craig Syrop, MD, associate vice president for UI Physicians; Ken Fisher, associate vice president for finance and CFO, UI Hospitals and Clinics; Bill Hesson, associate vice president for legal affairs. Lee Carmen, associate vice president for information systems; and Stacey Cyphert, PhD, assistant vice president for health policy. Ann Broderick, MD, has been named medical director of the Palliative Care Program. Janet Fairley, MD, was appointed to the John S. Strauss Chair in Dermatology. James Folk, MD, has been named the Judith Gardner and Donald H. Beisner, MD, Professor for Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery. David Helman, MD, has been named surgical director of heart transplantation. Businessman Young H. Kwon, MD, PhD, was named Clifford M. and Ruth M. Altermatt Associate Professor of Glaucoma. Marvin Pomerantz committed $2 million for the John Colloton Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine, $1.5 million to establish the Marvin and Rose Lee Pomerantz Chair in the College of Public Health, and $500,000 for a new College of Public Health building. Alan Reed, MD, was named director of the hospital’s organ transplant center.
