What is UI QuickCare?
UI QuickCare is a convenient walk-in clinic offered by UI Family Care. The clinics are for anyone six months or older with a minor ailment, who can't see the doctor or it's not serious enough for a trip to the ER. Minor ailments include things like strep throat, minor respiratory problems, flu, and minor injuries. The clinics do not treat emergency cases or chronic illnesses, or patients covered by Workman's Comp.
Can you elaborate on staffing?
Patients are seen by physician assistants and nurse practitioners connected to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Patients who need follow-up care will be referred to their personal physicians or offered follow-up care through a UI Family Care physician.
Are lab tests available?
Yes. The clinics provide basic lab testing for pregnancy, influenza, strep, mono, and urinalysis. They also provide immunizations against flu, PPD (TB screen), and tetanus.
