Emergency Upgrade
New Emergency Treatment Center features family-centered atmosphere
|
High-quality emergency care for more people who need it, delivered more efficiently.
These were among the ambitious goals established for the new Emergency Treatment Center (ETC) at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, which opened April 2, 2008.
Designed for efficient patient flow, the facility incorporates the latest concepts of personalized, patient-centered care.
The $30 million project features:
- 28 private patient rooms
- Three major critical care rooms
- Three specialized trauma areas
- Rooms for psychiatric, ophthalmologic, dental, forensic, and pediatric urgent care.
In addition to expanded clinical areas, the ETC includes new teaching areas with an auditorium and designated space for laboratory and radiology services
To help address Iowa's shortage of emergency physicians, the facility also includes a new home for Iowa's only emergency medicine residency program.
Parking and access also have been improved. |
