Breast Cancer
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Iowa.
According to the Cancer in Iowa: 2006 report, breast cancer is projected to be the most common type of newly diagnosed cancer cases in women (28 percent) and it will rank second (14 percent) as the cause of death in women.
No one is sure why some women get breast cancer and others don't. Some women who have risk factors don't get breast cancer, and those who don't have risk factors, do get it.
