Myths&Medicine

True or false:

Brain freeze has nothing to do with the brain.

True. It has to do with the blood vessels in your head. When you eat or drink something very cold, you can get an excruciating headache that goes away within minutes.

When something very cold touches the roof of your mouth, it sets off nerves that control the flow of blood to your head, triggering vessels in your head to swell and causing your heart to pound. It is not dangerous.
