Melanoma and Sarcoma Clinics
The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center now offers care for patients with sarcoma and melanoma.
The sarcoma clinic offers the collaboration of specialties, aggressive treatments, and clinical trial offerings. To make an appointment, call 319-356-4200 or 319-384-5118.
The melanoma clinic offers prevention information and screening to people with a high risk for melanoma. Appointments can be made through the Dermatology Clinic, 319-384-9700.
Biomedical Imaging
The Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging is a joint venture between the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and the UI College of Engineering to foster multi-disciplinary and cross-college research, in biomedical imaging. One of the institute’s goals is to translate the research advances in imaging to improved health care for patients.
Project 3000
University of Iowa leaders, physicians, researchers, and staff are working to identify 3,000 people in the United States with Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA), an inherited cause of blindness in children. Project 3000 is the first program to offer nationwide, state-of-the-art genetic testing to identify individuals with LCA on a nonprofit basis. Project 3000 can serve as a model for approaching other rare genetic diseases.
