You can lose weight, increase your endurance, improve your sleep, and prevent heart disease.
And CHAMPS, the prevention program of UI Heart and Vascular Center, can help. But you’re going to have to do a little work.
CHAMPS—Cardiovascular Health, Assessment, Management, and Prevention Service—offers several programs to get you off to a healthy start, and the support to keep you on track to success. “Starting an exercise program can be overwhelming. The multi-disciplinary CHAMPS staff helps individuals feel comfortable exercising and helps them reach their exercise goals,” says Jennifer Bunning, CHAMPS Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist.
Aerobic and strength training—Unlimited use of the equipment, including treadmills, elliptical trainers, bicycles, and weight equipment.
Personal trainer—Meet with an ACSM-certified personal trainer to develop a program designed to meet your goals and concerns, including modifying your risk for cardiovascular disease, increasing muscle, making fitness fun, and increasing your quality of life.
Dietary consultation and planning—Meet with a CHAMPS registered dietitian to review your eating habits, set goals, and design a plan to fit your lifestyle. An initial exercise test and fitness prescription is usually covered by insurance.
