Last year, more than 1,800 Iowans died from cancers of the lung and bronchus.

The incidence rates of lung cancers are on the rise—and it’s not all about smoking.

In addition, the lifetime risk of esophageal cancer in the United States is 1 in 200.

The good news is that there are some exciting new tools being used to detect and treat these cancers. Hear experts with Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center present a comprehensive overview of lung and esophageal cancers and some of the advances being made in the fight against them.

Discussion will include:

  • What are the warning signs of these cancers?
  • What causes lung cancer and what is a non-smoker’s risk?
  • Are conditions such as acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) warning signs of esophageal cancer?
  • How are these cancers diagnosed?
  • What are the latest advances in treatment options?
  • What is 4-D Radiation Therapy and what does it mean for cancer treatment?
  • Minimally-invasive lung and esophageal surgery

There will also be time for questions and answers.
