Boiled Dinner

1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed and cubed 1/2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1 small onion, sliced 2 medium carrots
1 bay leaf 1 stalk celery cut
2 allspice 2 medium tomatoes, quartered
2 cloves 1 small onion, quartered
2 whole peppercorns 1/3 rutabaga, sliced
1 stalk celery, sliced 4 small potatoes
  1/3 head cabbage, shredded
  1. Brown meat, then cover meat with water and add the first small onion, bay leaf, allspice, cloves, peppercorns and celery. Simmer covered 1-1/2 hours.
  2. Add bouillon, carrots, another stalk of celery, tomatoes, another onion, and the rutabaga. Simmer 1/2 hour.
  3. Add potatoes and simmer 15 minutes.
  4. Add cabbage and simmer another 20 minutes.
