Portuguese Soup

1 cup chopped onion

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 pound reduced-fat smoked sausage, cut in bite size pieces

1/2 head cabbage, chopped

4 beef bouillon cubes

6 cups water, divided

1 cup catsup

1 16-ounce can pork and beans

6 potatoes, peeled and chopped

  1. Sauté onion, garlic powder and sausage in a nonstick skillet.
  2. Transfer meat/onion mixture to a large kettle.
  3. Dissolve beef bouillon cubes in 3 cups of water. Add the rest of the water and the remaining ingredients.
  4. Simmer for 35-45 minutes until potatoes are tender.
