Commune with Others

  • Talk to a friend (in person or on the phone)
  • Say a kind word or compliment someone
  • Write a letter to someone who is important to you
  • Volunteer to help others

Commune With Nature and the Environment

  • Take walks
  • Sit in a favorite outdoor place
  • Read nature books/magazines
  • Pet an animal
  • Hang a bird feeder (do not forget to watch the birds!)
  • Putter with plants in your home, yard, or garden

Relax

  • Reflect on the good times of your life
  • Do relaxation exercises: breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, and imagery
  • Do something nice for yourself every day
