Anticonvulsant Drug Therapy Nembutal Sodium Suppository

General Information: The Nembutal suppository is a barbiturate in the form of a suppository. The Nembutal suppository is used to stop a prolonged seizure (generally a seizure lasting longer than 15 minutes). The suppository is administered rectally and is absorbed into the colon. Formulations: Nembutal suppositories are available in the following strengths:
Dosage: The dosage of the Nembutal suppository varies according to a child's age, but usually a child will be prescribed 2-4 mg/kilogram of body weight. Side Effects: The most common side effect is drowsiness or sedation. |
