Join a Scheuermann's Kyphosis discussion group If you have been diagnosed with kyphosis or Scheuermann’s disease, or know of someone who has, we are here to share information and facts about kyphosis and to offer our support. In December 1999 our son, Brian, had surgery to correct an abnormal curve in his spine, caused by Scheuermann’s disease. For 3 1⁄2 years he worked with his physicians, physical therapists, and the staff at a local pain clinic, as they tried to relieve his pain. The search to find any information about this disease was frustrating. There were plenty of articles written about scoliosis, but few concerning kyphosis. Since surgery is rarely needed, we felt totally isolated, with no one to talk to who could relate to what we were going through. We hope to help others who have found themselves in a similar situation. |
