Postural Kyphosis
- Roundness disappears when standing straight
- Smooth, gentle curve when bending over
- Normal X-rays
- Usually not painful
- Normal hamstring muscles
- Normal balance
Scheuermann's Kyphosis
- Roundness does not disappear when standing straight
- Roundness worsens when bending over
- Back pain & fatigue
- Tight hamstring muscles
- Usually normal neurologically (nervous system)
- Loss of balance
- Can decrease lung and heart functions, due to less room in the chest cavity
