Getting an x-ray means they're taking a picture of your insides. You may have to put on a gown, depending on what part of your body they are taking
a picture of. It is usually cold in the room, and the x-ray machine or table
is cold, but you can ask for a blanket. Like with any other picture, you need
to hold still for the x-ray, or they may have to take it again. X-rays do not
usually hurt. The doctor or x-ray technician may ask you to take a deep breath
then blow it all the way out, then take a breath in and hold it until the x-ray
is taken, and the machine moves close to you. You will wear a heavy vest or
cover to protect you from the rays. The technician may leave the room for a short time while taking the x-ray.
