For Kids: Map of Organs

Gallbladder

Warren Bishop, MD
The University of Iowa Department of Pediatrics

My gallbladder is a little bag underneath my liver. It slowly fills up with liquid bile between meals. When I eat, my gallbladder squeezes and squirts bile into my intestine. The bile carries waste products from the liver and also helps me digest my food, especially fats! Bile is actually a detergent that dissoves greasy foods so they can be absorbed.
