Pancreas

Warren Bishop, MD
The University of Iowa Department of Pediatrics

My pancreas does two seperate jobs. The first job is to make insulin. Insulin keeps my blood sugar from going too high. The second job done by my pancreas is to make chemicals that help me digest my food. These chemicals are called enzymes and are very important! Without enzymes from the pancreas, I would probably have terrible diarrhea and maybe even starve to death.
